Using Emotional Freedom Tapping to Control Panic Attacks

Suffering from panic can make it seem like the best thing that you can do for yourself is to find a way to prevent panic attacks to stop them from happening ever again. More important than prevention, however, is learning how to control panic attacks when they’ve already started. If you can effectively control the wave of panic, you can break the cycle of anxiety that follows it.

Just think about the power you could have over your panic attacks if you weren’t constantly afraid of having another one? Wouldn’t that take a weight of your shoulders?

There are tons of techniques and systems out there that claim to be able to help take away the fear of having a panic attack and give you back control, but the one we’re going to discussfor the moment is called EFT or Emotional Freedom Techniques.

The brisk version of EFT is that it is a systematic method of thumping major meridian points on yourbody to liberate trapped energy and bring your body to balance. It has also been called “acupuncture without the needles.” You will tap the same acupuncture point with your fingers, while giving yourself a positive mantra.

If that doesn’t make much sense, don’t worry. Even just a quick web search will pull up all of the diagrams and free info you need to get started. As soon as you learn what you’re doing, EFT is a sinch to perform. The hard part is keeping calm enough to remember what to do, so I advise that you practice your EFT session as often as possible until the routine becomes second nature.

Every time you realize that you’re having a panic attack, just begin drumming on those vital points and saying your mantra.

Don’t be troubled too much about skipping steps or doing everything in the right order. At first, just focus on the tapping and giving yourself a upbeat affirmation. Keep in mind that sometimes it takes a few rounds of EFT before you start feeling better.

While tapping isn’t an immediate method for curing panic attacks, you should feel a slightly bit better with every round of taps you complete. It also goes without saying that people who tend suffer from panic at places like the office or in the middle of traffic, might not be able to use EFT very effectively.

If you need a less invasive tactic, I advise you read How to Control Panic Attacks at End of Anxiety. There you can also find some gratis article resources and other techniques that you can employ to start curing panic attacks.

Get Paid to Submit Article like “EFT Overcomes a Fear of Dogs”She had avoided dogs for so long that it was difficult to recall a time when she had been able to cross an open space like a park or playground without fear. A dread lurked as she might come face to face with a dog! Yet after a few minutes therapy work with a brand new technique, called “E.F.T.” or “Emotional Freedom Techniques, she felt this fear of hers gently melt away. Instead of pictures of wolf like fangs and grasping jaws being projected onto the cinema screen of her mind; she had a cartoon image of impotent dentures snapping harmlessly at thin air! Her rising anxiety was replaced with a wry smile.

It is true to say that E.F.T. had not completely removed her “dog phobia”, but it had reduced it considerably. Now it rested at an appropriately reasonable level. After all it is wise to be wary of dogs that you don’t know, particularly if they are big because given the right provocation they can hurt you!

She had been taking part in a week-end-training workshop facilitated by Gwyneth Moss. Gwyneth uses this new branch of complementary psychology to help her clients overcome anxieties and unwanted behaviours and to put traumatic experience safely behind them. She also uses the technique to improve their sporting, artistic and professional performances by clearing blocks to confidence. What’s even more interesting is the fact that EFT is able to grant a result quickly. It’s no longer necessary to return to the EFT practitioner week after expensive week. Now a mere couple of sessions can give lasting relief.

EFT has its origins in traditional Chinese acupuncture, developed over 5,000 years ago. With the passage of time, Eastern Medical teachings have evolved and fused with Western notions on Alternative Health Care to produce a variety of related practices loosely termed Energy Medicine and Energy Psychology.

From this field emerged “Thought Field Therapy”, the brainchild of American Clinical psychologist, Dr. Roger Callahan. TFT relies on a series of algorithms that involve tapping on the end points of certain acupuncture meridians whilst focusing thought on the problem to be resolved. This can be a complex process and a student of Dr. Callahan’s, Gary Craig set out to develop a simpler method. Thus E.F.T. was born.

Gwyneth was so impressed with the techniques she flew off to the U.S.A. to study with Gary Craig. As a result she has gained the distinction of being granted the qualification “E.F.T. Master”. Now she holds training workshops in Yorkshire, U.K. for complementary practitioners, doctors, counselors, health workers and “people helpers” who want to learn this effective tool.

That’s not to say that attending a week-end workshop is sufficient training to make any Tom, Dick or Harry an instant expert. As Oscar Wilde so succinctly stated “practice makes perfect”! However, the basics of this remarkable treatment are so simple that they can be grasped over a two day training. Even with an elementary grasp like this it is perfectly possible to help somebody overcome let’s say a fear of dogs as we have just seen. It’s worth checking out isn’t it?
